Thousands of people die each year from the cold, but we say they die from a lack of woollen clothing and blankets. Poor and defenceless individuals sleep in rags on the street and die of exposure. They shiver all night due to the cold breeze.
Woollen blankets were donated by Manav Sewa Trust, Sonepat, to these underprivileged folks so that they could protect themselves from the cold during the winter nights. Over 150 selected helpless and impoverished people living in diverse parts and distant villages in and slum area in Sonepat received blankets to assist them cope with the cold. These rural residents had to sleep all night in rags, shivering. The camp was held at Manav Sewa Library, Model Town one of the projects of the trust runnning more than 2 decades.
Manav Sewa Trust activists chose some impoverished and needy persons and provided them with blankets. They were all relieved to get the blankets and delighted that they would finally be able to sleep soundly on cold evenings.
